Can I get some suggestions please for Christmas presents for a 4 yr old boy?
Yep, more help for Christmas presents. It seems like I have answers for everyone but my own child…haha I have abundant ideas for my other three children, but I’m having problems w/ ideas for my four year old. He likes video games, but is still a little young to play them well. He has all the riding toys he could ever need…and all the racetracks too. He says he wants a gameboy, but his oldest brother is getting a DS for his bday in a few wks for his bday, so I figure I’ll give him the SP. He enjoys basketball, Ben 10, the black spiderman, cars…just about all your typical boy things. He likes organizing things, a little too much, having to have everything line up just perfectly and put in the right place. Any suggestions? We usually spend 0-150 on each of them for Christmas, and I can’t seem to fill up his list. The only thing I really know I’m getting him is a black spiderman figurine (that’s only about ).
About the video games…he just wants to play because he wants to be like his big brothers (12 and 7)…he mostly just holds it and moves the people around. He just wants to look big. And yes, he has 3 bikes, 1 big wheel, 1 pedal car, and 3 motorized cars. And we have legos too (he does love them). And the money idea is out of the question. I do save money for them, but this is Christmas. What little kid doesn’t want a pile of presents under the tree to open? He’s only 4. I just want to make sure he enjoys them so I can see his little eyes light up!

My three – year – old LOVES Magnetix. They’re basically a magnetic building toy, kind of like the more modern version of Legos. Another cool toy that I saw on TV is the Playmobil take – along castle. My son has a big wooden castle with knights, but I think he might get that one so he can carry it to Grandma’s more easily. Another toy that has caught his attention is a truck from a line called Road Rippers. It’s kind of like a robotic truck – when you turn it on, it can sense when it’s going uphill or going to crash into something, so it can climb up hills and avoid obstacles. I looked them up online (www.roadrippers.com) and also found them on the Toys R Us site. The prices vary from one vehicle to another between $10 and $30. Fisher Price also makes a toy called Imaginext Dinosaurs. My son really wants one; the price range is $10 to $30. They’re kind of a robotic dinosaur that walks, moves it tail and head (depending on which one you buy), and roars supposedly like a real dinosaur.
I’m sure your son will also give you some suggestions – have you noticed that there are more toy commercials on TV now? Good luck!
You said he likes video games right, how about VSMILE, its is geard for kids that age. My son is 4 and he loves it.
what about a bike? or some roller blades, sporting equipment, to many kids sit around all day with their eyes glued to screens…
try a flick knife.
my kid loves his.
I tell ya. My nephew just love that little tool/ work bench sets. They come with little drills and fake wood pieces that you screw fake screws in etc. I bought mine for like 15 dollars at the dollar store and he used it for years. I don’t know if they still carry those, it’s been a few, but I know walmart does. He just loved that thing.
My cousins use to love to get train tracks and the toys.
The ones that automatically go by themselves are fun . :]
He sounds just like my little brother at four. I practically raised him for 9 years (I moved out right after his ninth birthday). He was constantly lining his cars and toys up perfectly..And when my mother told him he couldn’t fit little men into matchbox cars he began rolling tiny pieces of paper up into a ball and sticking them in the cars and naming them.
But, anyways!..For his fourth birthday, we got him a firetruck that lit up, a few cars to add to his ridiculous collection, a basketball hoop that hung on the wall with some basketballs, and added in some games like monopoly and hi-ho cherry-o that we knew he’d have to get used to (it ended up being a great idea..worked alot for family time).
LEGOS – a basic set of bricks, not a theme kit
and a comparmentalized storage case for them.
He can sort them over and over again, by color, by size, etc… and my kids, now 17, 14 and 12 STILL enjoy building with Legos. The beauty of this is you can spend a little or spend a lot and no matter what, you have a toy that will be played with for years and years.
You might want to buy him a square base plate also, to serve as a foundation for whatever he is building.
<Lego is not paying me to say this – they are just that great a toy!>
you can go on ToysRus.com or walmart.com or any website really, and search for age related or price range toys. Many even have a feature where you can search under both age and price range.
Video games at 4?? Wow, technology these days! Maybe you should start getting him school things.. or preschool prep items. He will be starting school very soon… perhaps you could spend less on him and put the rest in a savings account for later. (Or give him some money & teach him how to spend it wisely). Clothes!
Good luck & I hope you have a merry christmas!
p.s. it’s cute how well you know you’re sons toys and heroes!
Maybe you could get him organizing shelves or cabinets to straighten things out with. Perhaps you could fill the shelves with smaller wrapped presents.
my son is also 4 and all he talks about is transformers so he probally will be getting a few of them also he loves cars so we might be getting him a small race track. hope this helps!
