realistic ideas for a home party for a 7 yr old boy?
i can’t believe i am doing this again..i did one last yr and swore this yr i would pay for him to go somewhere as it was so frustrating. i put so much work in and the kids weren’t really interested..bare in mind i had 30 of the little 6yr old darlings!! but money problems are forcing me to again organise a party. this time it has to be at home, not in a hall, and im thinking more like 10 – 12 kids girls and boys. he will be turning 7 in december so it will be raining so no outdoor possibilities sadly! i don’t have a huge house but a fair sized double front room.
i have looked at so many fab ideas but i have a 21 month old who is ill and am pregnant so haven’t got the time or energy for coming up with elaborate schemes again. i did ben 10 last yr and as i said they all kept loosing interest and in the end i just let them run around with balloons.
so i have thought
1) play date bd – just playing with toys, party food simple
2) film party- rent a film but will this be boring?
3)older party games – i think pass parcel etc gonna be boring but havent got the rooms hidy holes needed for treasure hunts etc…although do them at easter so maybe??
he loves wwe, footy, computer games (but seriously i can’t sit them in front of the xbox although im sure they would love it!) and is generally a typical boy. also money is a big issue..ie, i don’t have any!!!
anyway any suggestions would be appreciated the easier the better!! thanks and sorry for the essay!
cool ideas so far thank you. i wish i had a decent park near by but they are rubbish plus it will be the middle of december.

I would do a movie theme.
Your invitations could look like theater tickets, you could make some basic decorations (Coming soon posters, Now playing posters, washrooms sign with an arrow, snack bar sign with an arrow).
You could have the kids make their own pizzas. Buy small pizza crusts or you can make your own and then have all the ingredients in small bowls. They can put on whatever they want.
For snacks you could serve popcorn (party stores sell actual popcorn bags if you want them) and chips, maybe candy – some of the things you see at the movies snack counters. And of course, cake!
I would have it in the evening, maybe 6-9. The pizzas would take a few minutes to prepare and then time to cook and the movie would take 1 1/2 – 2 hours. Then they can go home and you shouldn’t have a huge mess. He could open presents while waiting on the pizzas.
Should be relatively easy.
I just did a party for my 5 year old daughter, but you could probably do the same thing for a boy. We had boys and girls here too. I did a rock star themed party, we told everyone to dress as their favorite rock star, which was really cute. It actually turned out better than I thought. We found a company that catered for super cheap, so we ate first, then we did a scavenger hunt (boys against girls, 2 adults went with each group, and it took about an hour, great for killing time), after the scavenger hunt we did cake, she opened presents, they had a dance party, then everyone went home. It was probably the most fun party that I have thrown.
My son turned 8 this past May. He had a Army theme bday party. When the kids arrived we did face painting and tattoos. The games we played were hot potato, potato on a spoon race, and something else.. I cant remember. But the kids ages 5 to 8 had fun.
I know what you mean by doing a party where someone else does it. I am looking for something for my fixing to be 2 year old. I am sorry but these place have rediculous prices!!!!
Do you have a park around where you live? You could do it there.. There is plenty for the kids to play on and do. That is where we had his 7th bday. They had fun too. I just got some simple decoration, a cake, juice and a few balloons and the party was set. The only entertainment they had was a park full of things to play on and they had a great time doing it.
We went to a home party and all the kids had fun. It was basically just one room that was decorated simply, they did a craft (shop orientaltrading.com for cheap crafts that relate to your theme) and then went outside with their winter coats on and popped a pinata.
They had pizza, cake and watched the birthday boy open presents and then they just sort of played for a half an hour and we left. It was short and sweet and didn’t suck the energy out of the parents. I thought it was nice. Good luck!
Hi,
I have an idea, let them create their own party favors, have them make a craft, like get those wooden cars at the craft store, and let them paint a few each.
