It’s that time of year again. Christmas is just around the corner.  As a mother of two, I have to start thinking about what to buy for them this Christmas. My little boy is 6 and my little girl is 4. Kids this age don’t care much about anything else except toys. What kind of toys should I buy for my kids this Christmas? I have to go with the trend. I did some research and found the lists of best selling toys for boys and girls last year. It is most likely that this trend will continue.

What Will Be  the Best Selling Christmas Toys 2009

The Ben 10 Series was chosen as the toy of the year 2008 by the Toy Retailer Association. In 2007, the award went to a set of toys from In the Night Garden. The popular theme tends to be a toy associated with a well-known children’s TV character. This pattern is likely to repeat itself in 2009. Toys connected to television characters have an advantage over other toys because kids are familiar and can identify with them.

Rubik cube was the top choice as the best puzzle on the market in 2007. Its popularity didn’t slow down and was still going strong right up until  Christmas 2008. In fact, it was on the best selling toy list for Amazon last year. Rubik cube is an old toy but still holds a fascination for adults and children of all ages.

As toys for girls, Sylvannian figures and houses won awards in 2007 and 2008 consecutively. Girls love these cute collectible animals which have a wide range of accessories. I am confident that they will again be on the best selling list for girls, just like lego which will be the best selling construction toy for boys.

If you are a mom, I hope you’ll have a general idea as to what to buy for your kids this Christmas. Shopping online is wonderful because it saves you a lot of time and money. You often find bargains, discounts, coupons and other giveaways that you don’t usually find when you go shopping in person. Take your time comparing the deals from several websites. You don’t need to make a decision quickly because you may regret it later when you find a better deal somewhere else.

i can’t believe i am doing this again..i did one last yr and swore this yr i would pay for him to go somewhere as it was so frustrating. i put so much work in and the kids weren’t really interested..bare in mind i had 30 of the little 6yr old darlings!! but money problems are forcing me to again organise a party. this time it has to be at home, not in a hall, and im thinking more like 10 – 12 kids girls and boys. he will be turning 7 in december so it will be raining so no outdoor possibilities sadly! i don’t have a huge house but a fair sized double front room.
i have looked at so many fab ideas but i have a 21 month old who is ill and am pregnant so haven’t got the time or energy for coming up with elaborate schemes again. i did ben 10 last yr and as i said they all kept loosing interest and in the end i just let them run around with balloons.
so i have thought
1) play date bd – just playing with toys, party food simple
2) film party- rent a film but will this be boring?
3)older party games – i think pass parcel etc gonna be boring but havent got the rooms hidy holes needed for treasure hunts etc…although do them at easter so maybe??
he loves wwe, footy, computer games (but seriously i can’t sit them in front of the xbox although im sure they would love it!) and is generally a typical boy. also money is a big issue..ie, i don’t have any!!!
anyway any suggestions would be appreciated the easier the better!! thanks and sorry for the essay!
cool ideas so far thank you. i wish i had a decent park near by but they are rubbish plus it will be the middle of december.

My son is Obsessed with "super hero’s" any and all. From "Superman" to "Ben 10". It is all he talks about all day and will ask me questions like "guess who i am " , which changes every 2 min. Then he will jump around constantly pretending he is one or other of these "heroes" . Now i know boys like heroes but why cant he like cars and lego like other boys? He doesn’t play with any other toys apart from his Hero figurines, and i dont think this is healthy. How can i stop this?
